Chapter 5

Here is Chapter 5 of the Christmasaurus! The egg has just cracked open and it was a DINOSAUR!!! I can not wait to find out what happens next!

In this chapter I was a reading detective and looked at lots of the clues the author gave us to tell us how the characters were feeling! I looked at the description of the facial expressions and the movements of the characters and not just the words the author wrote! This is called inference. The clues I found were:

  • when Santa gestured to settle down - meaning he wanted quiet and wanted to talk,
  • when the dinosaur blinked - meaning he was nervous
  • when the elves eyes welled up - meaning they were about to cry but we needed to read more to find out if they were happy or sad tears!

Can you answer these questions?

  1. Was the dinosaur a boy or girl?
  2. What colour was the dinosaur?
  3. What did Snozzletrump get from the library?
  4. What did they call the dinosaur?
